I see that Epsom and Ewell Borough Council have announced that, due to the bad weather this last week, they could not collect much of the rubbish and recycling. It says on their website that they will collect it this week (commencing 9th February) on the normal collection day, and that they will collect up to three additional black bags of rubbish per household, to take into account the missed collection. At least as it is cold out, it shouldn't smell!
It is a great shame that there has been a national shortage of rock salt, so only the main roads could be gritted eventually; otherwise, it could have been business as usual for everyone. Both my husband and I managed to get out to work and back every day in our cars without any problems, successfully avoiding both those that don't know how to drive in snow and icy conditions, so were going too slow to keep momentum, resulting in panic wheel spinning and sliding all over the road, and the pedestrians that felt that they had to walk in the road, wearing dark clothing, in the dark, presumably as they felt the roads were clearer and safer than the pavements....
Surrey County Council advised that the salt/grit bins are in the process of being replenished, as additional stock is delivered, but some bins in the area seem to have disappeared. Does anyone know what has happened to them?
